NUMBER OF SUCCESSFUL FUND APPLICANTS DOUBLES

Twice as many projects will benefit from support from the Roos Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund in 2015, compared to the first round of funding in 2013/14.

Just four projects shared the £36,000 pot its inaugural year, including two major village hall refurbishment projects at Burton Pidsea and Halsham.  In its second year, the Fund has seen a significant increase in the number of applicants and has been able to help more projects near the wind farm to flourish.

Alison Jones, RES Community Relations Manager, says: "We are really pleased to see more ideas coming forward for the Roos Wind Farm Community Fund. Not only has the number of successful applicants doubled, there is a great range of ideas being put forward, from £1,000 to buy equipment for a photographic club to £12,000 towards a major community hall refurbishment programme."

Roos Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund became available in late 2013, after the wind farm became fully operational, and offers £36,000 per year (index linked) to support projects that will benefit people living and working within a 5km radius of the turbines. Decisions about where the money is allocated is made by a Fund Panel of representatives from the parishes of Burton Pidsea, Halsham, Rimswell and Roos.

The 2014/15 round of funding has now been fully allocated, and a list of the projects that have benefited to date can be found here.

Information about the Fund and how to apply can be found here.
